YACHT TRANSPORTS

Making your boat safe for transport by road

  • Please put all delicate and unsecured items inside the boat on the floor or beds and cover with cushions. The boat will have a comfortable ride but delicate items should be protected or removed
  • Turn off or isolate gas bottles and batteries.
  • Remove dangerous materials
  • Lower or remove radar arches, radio aerials and lighting gantries
  • Remove or protect splash screens unless they are very strong and permanently fixed.
  • Remove canopies. There can be obvious damage implications from torn or loose canvas (could become detached and blow onto a following car or motor-cyclist).
  • Place the yacht masts on top of the boat wherever possible, carefully wrapped and insulated from vibration and chafing.
  • Stow ropes and fenders safely.
  • Normally these tasks are carried out by the owner and / or boatyard staff. However our drivers and attendants will help with safe stowage if needed.
  • Any keys or paperwork requirements should be agreed in advance.

Loading procedures prior to boat transport

Boatyards and Marinas with cranes or hoists have a crew of qualified operatives to load the boat onto our trailer.

We cooperate with them to be sure that the craft is safely placed on the vehicle, the keel is properly lowered and the hull is supported with adjustable padded arms.

Now your boat is safely and ready for transport by road.

Before leaving, the boat will be inspected for damaged. If the owner is not present the damages will be pointe4d out ton the loading team. We will call the owner and photograph the damage.

To ensure the vehicle will pass safely along the selected route, the load will be measured carefully. We check the height of limits (for bridges etc.) to make sure that the route chosen is safe.

Potential damage could be caused by low branches of trees (especially after periods of rain). That is why we asked for removal of the canopies and other items to lower the risk.

Especially in the early stages of transport frequent stops are made to check the security and safe condition of the yacht.
